It runs on 2 AA alkaline batteries (not included) that go in the compartment underneath. Use alkaline ones: with cheaper batteries the motor often lacks the power to cut all the way around the lid.

Questions before you buy

Does it open glass jars?

No. It is made for standard metal cans with a rim. It will not open twist-off glass jar lids.

Does it stop by itself?

No. It has no automatic stop, so stay with it until it has gone all the way around, then stop it and lift the lid.

Does it work on every can?

No. It is made for standard round steel cans with a straight, regular rim. On cans with an unusually wide, dented or irregular rim it can stall or fail to cut all the way around. If that happens with yours, email us within 30 days and we will make it right.

What batteries does it need?

2 AA alkaline batteries, not included. They go in the compartment underneath. This matters: with standard or nearly empty batteries the motor often stalls partway around the lid.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it clean. Do not submerge it and do not put it in the dishwasher: the body is plastic and it holds batteries.
